How does one live without a to-do list?
I cannot live without them. I make one every day when I wake up. I set goals for the month (both business and personal). I even have a category on my PDA called "weekend," just so I don't forget to do things like shop for snap peas and wash my pantyhose. No. I am not some kind of OCD freakazoid...I am just a planner. And it must be genetic, because my mother was a list diva and my daughters both insist on buying lined calendars at the beginning of every school year.
To-do lists must be ambirious, but not delusional. They are a visual representation of what you intend to do in the course of a day...a week...a month...a year. And they force you to own up to some accountabililty for your own life.
So, if you have never done the "to-do list thing," I heartily recommend it. Start slow. Don't over-commit. Be honest with yourself about what you can REALLY achieve in the course of a particular time period. Focus on really important stuff and make sure you actually do what you say you're gonna do. Hang the list in a visible place and look at it frequently. At the end of every day, you'll look at all those little check marks and feel like a total rock star.
Or, you can just spin aimlessly around the planet saying, "I had so much to do and I didn't get to any of it."
Very functional Microsoft To-Do List Stationery (yawn!)
Stationery that's a bit zippier
To-do notes for your computer (Some folks like it, but it makes me dizzy...I'm a pen and pad type of person)
